 Mavericks Youth produce fantastic win over Loughborough by 1 goal.
Mavericks arrived at this game being undefeated so far in the league but knew Loughborough would present the toughest challenge yet this season. We agreed our approach would be to play a high intensity match from the start. The players did not disappoint. The match was hard fought and close the whole way through the game. Following an excellent player warm up Mavericks Youth took the 1st quarter by two goals. Then Lougborough came back in to the second 1/4 with the half time score being 14 - 12 to Mavericks. With some team changes being made at every quarter and 10 of the selected 12 players contributing to the on court success Mavericks Youth were delighted to hold on the the win albeit by the narrowest of margins. Jade Cornhill had an outstanding match and was awarded player of the match by the coaching and management team.
The mid court in particular was of the highest standard and created ample shooting opportunities for Mavericks Youth. Despite the win, Mavericks Youth intend to produce better quality performances through the season. For the time being Mavericks Youth are 3 wins from 3 matches.
