Mavericks had responded to training this week and came into this match in good spirits knowing they had the capability to play a dominant attacking game. Loughborough contested every ball and in the first quarter and Hertfordshire Mavericks accuracy throughout the court was tested and the first quarter finished just 2 goals ahead but with Louisa Brownfield and Ella Clark finding the ring consistently well. Georgia Schmidt and Camilla Buchanan were developing a good understanding and were able to close down the centre pass throughout the second quarter and it was this that begun to turn the game and give the Hertfordshire Mavericks the ball on numerous occasions Naida Hutchinson and Amanda Newton were now able to close down the space and take the interceptions and give the ball to Karen Atkinson; who continues to attack and defend at a very high intensity so the shooters scored 93% in this quarter.

Changes in the second half did not affect the scoring opportunities and credit must go to Loughborough’s circle defence who were able to get tips to feeds and passes but still Hertfordshire Mavericks seven man defence were quick in the transition, intercepting and attacking again enabling Clark and Brownfield to start moving with ease in the circle. Hazel Schofield and Amanda Newton were partnering well and knowing the accuracy of Loughborough’s shooters were able to restrict them to eight opportunities in the third quarter. Naomi Stenhouse came on as Wing Defence in the 4th Quarter and combining with Laurelle Borck created errors for the opposition helping Mavericks to give their shooters the largest amount of opportunities of the match; one shot missed throughout the match for Louisa Brown field combined with 3 interceptions and 2 tips really showed her stamping her authority on the court .
