A double header and first stop was Bury to play against a side that was threatening and needed to be taken seriously. Hertfordshire Mavericks knew the opposition and prepared accordingly; the start was just what the coaching team wanted 3:0 and players were sticking to what was needed. Is it concentration or thinking that the simple play is not good enough? Whatever the reason Thunder then took charge and Hertfordshire Mavericks were always then involved in a scrappy match; both teams marking closely and a lot of body and contact took place. Credit goes to Thunder's attacking quartet who were allowed to use the ball to create many shooting opportunities in the outer circle.

The match was brought back to level with Mavericks shooters accurately finding the ring each time but not being given as many opportunities as they needed so Hertfordshire mavericks could not stretch the score any further and when Karen Atkinson left the court injured the visitors froze for a short while and Thunder took this opportunity and the gap was made. As Hertfordshire Mavericks went into the fourth quarter the visitors showed they could take the game to Thunder and opportunities and turnovers and opportunities were there for the taking however Thunder were not going to let go of this goal margin and a defeat that Hertfordshire Mavericks knew was their responsibility; they were just not good enough on the day.
