Mavericks Monique Wood shared some of her thoughts of the matches at the Open European Championships as England took the title. England Vs Northern Ireland
I started at Goal Attack and played there for
the first three quarters, really enjoyed the game but, it was goal for
goal to start with then we started to edge away and gradually got
better as the game went on. Stacey broke her little finger within the
first 5 minutes, so we changed Eboni to Goal Defence with Naida in the
back. I played well with Jo and everyone was connecting well
especially in the second half but, it was one of our weaker
performances of the weekend.
England Vs Wales
I started at Goal Attack and stayed there for first half
of the game. Acheived good statistic and put up quite a few long shots.
All the shooters did really well along with defence turning lots of
ball over. Naida especially. All enjoyed game...
Eng vs Scotland
A more physical match. The audience were a lot louder and up
for it which made us really enthusiastic. I started at Goal Attack for
first quarter, 11-3 at end of quarter got taken off and Jo moved to Goal Attack with Kirsty on at Shooter. Alex Kirk went on with Jo on
last quarter she did well. Naida rolled her ankle in third quarter so they bought
Lindsay Keable on which was her 1st quarter of the week end but then they took her off
again cause Naida was ok.
We won all the games convincingly and
Serena fell over a few times throughout the championships as usual. This was a great event for England.
