Mavericks Youth Squad played South African Team

We are very pleased to confirm that the Mavericks Youth squad have come 2nd in the Netball Talent League 2007/8. This season they have only lost one match by one goal to Team Bath and drawn one against the champions West Midlands Warriors. The league table tells the story as our young athletes actually drew on points with the champions but lost the league title on goal difference.

Head Coach Jo Munnion said "we are very proud of our players as we have a strong squad and the result we have gained is due to the whole squad working hard in training as well as during matches throughout the season ". She went on to say what a challenging end to the season the squad had due to three matches against teams within the top four places all within two weeks of eachother and right before the European Championships.
Kelsey NolanThis season the young players have taken part in training and matches as well as being members of their own teams and gaining experience and practising their skills in the regional senior and youth league competitions.

The majority of the Mavericks Youth squad come from the East region but a number also travel into the region to play for our Talent League side. With coaches coming from Northampton, Norwich and Cambridge and players from London, Buckinghamshire and as far as Bracknell, this shows just how committed everybody has been, even with the extra miles.

A number of the Mavericks players have been nominated for National Screening and will hopefully be attendning this event in Bath on Sunday 16th March. The plans for next season are in full swing as trials are set for mid September and the players still Under 19 are back in training building towards the new target of getting back in. Screening processes are currently going ahead across the East Region for young players to see if they can gain an invitation to trials and people outside the east region need to see if they can get a recommendation from their club coach.
