Deb Jones was spotted at the Bedford Race for Life as she easily popped around the course. She was joined on her run as her little running partner (to the left of DJ) is her close family friend and daughter of Lisa Rattu, Ellie Rattu! Kevin Jones (no relation) the Mavericks Photographer was out for the day supporting his eldest daughter Tracey who was also one of DJ's pupils (a few years ago...)
It sounds like this was a real netball reunion as many women gave up their time to raise money for cancer research. These events have a great atmosphere, apparently over 4,000 spectators at the Bedford run. However, there is a serious message behind the exercise and fun. A lot of people who take part either know somebody who has lost a loved one or has been unfortunate in losing a person close to them. It seems that we might hear about some more interesting fund raising events coming soon...
A MESSAGE FROM MAVERICKS
DJ and Mavericks are very keen to spread the message about Ovarian Cancer as it touches the lives of so many that we have loved and that have loved our sport. Earlier this year Mrs Jones, dedicated Bedfordshire and Mavericks supporter lost her life to this cancer. The East Region's own Chris Harpham also died from this cancer. Please take a couple of minutes to read the information on symptoms below:
Ovarian Cancer Whispers and by the time it is detected it is often too late - so listen...
