Mavericks Youth England Success!

Mavericks would like to congratulate the 7 members of the Mavericks Youth squad that were selected into England U17 and U19 squads this December, ready to compete in the European Championships this coming spring.

Alice Ewer, Josie Huckle, Sophia Candappa (U19), Shaunagh Craig, Danielle McFarlane, Rov Allen and Loran Wyatt. These aspiring young players have all worked extremely hard to earn their places in the England teams and are a real asset to Mavericks both on and off the court.

Most of these players were a part of last season's MY squad and have been developing through the regional club and academy system over a number of years.

The spread of positions means MY could actually field an England youth player in every spot - GS Craig, GA Ewer, WA McFarlane, C Candappa, WD Allen, GD Huckle, GK Wyatt. (Spotted by a highly observant parent!)

We wish the girls lots of luck in their preparations to competing in the Euro Champs next year.

Have you ever seen Engand seniors or youth play? Mavericks also have senior players who are part of England squads; Karen Atkinson (Eng Co-Captain), Louisa Brownfield & Naida Hutchinson. This spring the Autralian team is coming to England for a test series but you can also go and watch the Euro Champs. Every year England compete in the Euro Champs including U17, U19 (or U21 if world youth champs year), and open age groups. These commpetitions frequently take place in the Brittain.
