Mavericks Under 15s take SIlver in inaugural Netball at School Games

5th September 2018

Mavericks Under 15s participated in the National School Games competition from 30th August to 2nd September 2018 at Loughborough University.

Mavericks faced teams from Northumbria, Northern Ireland, Surrey Storm, London Pulse, Loughborough Lightning and Severn Stars and won 6 out of 7 games to reach the finals.

In the finals they faced Severn Stars and could not repeat their earlier win against them and lost by a 12 goal margin.

Whilst Mavericks were disappointed in their final performance we can all be proud of their achievement of gaining a Silver in the first time netball has been staged at the School Games finals.

Head Coach - Sachel Grant says “It was a pleasure to lead such an amazing group of players and I am extremely proud of what the girls have achieved in such a short space of time together. The girls gave everything and surpassed expectations. I am excited about the future if this competition is anything to go by”

Captain Katie Fisher says - “I really enjoyed our school games experience as I thought it was a great opportunity to be part of such a large event and to represent Mavericks throughout it. Our Mavericks U15s team showed great resilience and determination both on and off court resulting in us winning silver - an achievement we are all insanely proud of!”

Mavericks Player of the Tournament was awarded to Amelia Barclay who was fearless and relentless and went for every interception like her life depended on it.

Squad - Adewumi, Barclay, Boyce, Durand, Fisher (Captain), Gordon-Scott, Hall, Henn, James, Jennings-Evans, Stearn, Stone.
