Saracens Mavericks faced London Pulse on Monday evening, as they raced towards the Top Four playoffs. Coming off the back of a big win against Team Bath on Sunday afternoon, the Hertfordshire based side were confident in their chances.

The first quarter was close, with both teams going goal for goal most of the way. After some key injuries to the Mavericks lineup, they started off strong, ending the first quarter with a small two goal lead.

The second quarter started off in a similar fashion to the first, with both sides showcasing how badly they wanted the win. Pulse began to take a small lead when Mavericks called for an injury substitution in the final few minutes of the quarter. Due to some confusion, Mavericks ended up with just 6 players for a minute and found themselves without a GD, which Pulse used to their advantage. Pulse led at half time 25-19.

It seemed in the third quarter that Mavericks had already mentally been defeated. Pulse began to extend their lead, and although Mavericks fought for each ball defensively, they struggled to transition to goal. Gabby Marshall made several interceptions but ultimately, Pulse widened their lead to 12 goals.

The final 12 minutes went goal for goal, as Mavericks tried to overturn the deficit. Both squads fought to gain momentum and break down each others' play. After an exciting final quarter, Pulse ultimately took the win 46-33.

This loss was heartbreaking for Mavericks, as their top four hopes were dashed. This rollercoaster season has almost come to an end, with just one match left to play.
