Welcome to the Ultimate Netball Club

27th July 2020

We were devastated that our Pathway Camp was cancelled in April due to the COVID Pandemic; however, we ran a Virtual Camp last week to keep these athletes engaged and working hard towards next season. The athletes were from our County Academies and Pathway.

Day one we had our Saracens Mavericks and England Netball defender Jodie Gibson. She ran a fantastic session, which included ball work, attacking and defensive work. This was followed with a Q & A session.

Day two started early with the breakfast cooking club with our nutritionist Emily Bowden. The girls cooked and ate Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash Rosti. After which time there was an interactive quiz and learning more about nutrition. There was then a physical session focussed on movement let by our Pathway Head Coach, Sachel Grant.

Our final day was led by our Superleague Head Coach, Kat Ratnapala – the athlete looked at 10 Habits of a Saracens Mavericks Elite Player – she was joined by Bella Baylis and Aliyah Zaranyika. This was then followed by an intense session focussed on working in 15-minute blocks.

“This was a fantastic opportunity for those not in our Pathway to see what the next level will be like and those already in our pathway an opportunity to continue to grow and develop their skills – all without the travel. I am grateful for all the coaches and people and players who made it possible.” – Sachel Grant.

The feedback has been fantastic, and the players and parents are excited about our next virtual camp.

“Great coverage of healthy meals, nutrition and advice on the habits of great athletes as well as the focussed training sessions.”

“Thank you so much for all the hard work to make it possible. She has gained some valuable skills and knowledge which will hopefully take her forward with her netball journey.”

“I’ve really enjoyed it and the mix and variety was great. I’m looking forward to working on what I’ve learnt.”
