Mavericks & Netball East All Set for NPL & NPFL Tournament Weekend

22nd July 2016

As preparation came to a close for the NPL/NPFL tournament both Hertfordshire Mavericks and East set off to Loughborough to compete in a high performance weekend.

In recent weeks Mavericks and East have been training side by side in tough sessions to give everyone a taste of the hard work to come in a back to back tournament playing 2 games a day.

Head coach of Mavericks Youth and East Performance Pathway Coach Sam Meade said: "This is an excellent opportunity for the athletes to experience back to back competition in a high performance environment just like Europeans, commonwealths and World Cup competitions. It's great to have both the NPL and NPFL on the same weekend, particularly as Mavericks and Netball East have such a great working partnership. I think it's a positive step putting on this type of competition for the athletes and believe this will better prepares our English athletes for future international competition"

Beth Dix captain of Mavericks youth followed with, "all the girls are really excited to put out a strong performance and get back together in a competitive environment. There's a real buzz about this tournament, I think we're definitely out to make up for a few of our performances from the season and I have every faith in the squad to come out on top."

Captain of east Katie Bowen said " I'm really excited to have the opportunity to captain East this weekend - we have a really talented group of girls and I'm looking forward to seeing how the hard work we've all put in over the season has paid off "

Netball East and Hertfordshire Mavericks would like to wish all of our squads the best of luck for the weekend, we hope it's a successful and enjoyable experience!
