VNSL Round 3 Preview: Time to make it Three out of Three

7th February 2016

Vitality Netball Superleague

Round 3 Preview: Hertfordshire Mavericks V Team Northumbria

There is no time to rest as we follow up our first electrifying home match just yesterday V Loughborough Lightning with a long trip up to the North to face Team Northumbria.  This match will be Live on Sky Sports 3 from 7.30PM and we are expecting to face a team keen to take their first win of the season.

Whilst we are delighted to go into this having won our first two matches of the Vitality Netball Superleague 2016 season, the team remain focused and know they must not take their foot off the pedal.  We expect the match to be contested in all areas of the court and our team will be looking to go out strong from the first centre pass and dominate from defence, through the mid-court and into the attacking circle.  The defensive units will be looking to turnover as much ball as possible and drive it through to shooters who will be tasked with improving their already strong shooting stats.

Speaking after yesterday’s match against Loughborough Lightning, Captain Layla Guscoth had this to say: “I’m really happy after today’s performance  - for where we are at this stage of the season and the way we fought during that game,  I thought it was really impressive.  It takes time to develop a new team but I am really happy with how it is coming together, I see real progress and know we can build on that for the rest of the season."

Coach Sam Bird said, “It’s always a tough challenge travelling to Northumbria and we need to remain focussed on our goals for the match. The players have to recover quickly from Saturday nights match and be ready to perform at their best again on Monday.”
